[OVERTIME ATHLETES] Embarrassing

The other day, I was talking to one of my newer athletes who came to me after being cleared from an ACL injury.

Unfortunately, he had two D-I scholarship offers revoked when he injured his knee.

And worse than that, he told me that after he hurt his knee, he still came to practice to help out. Some unknowing scouts would come to practice hoping to get a look at him. They'd talk to his coaches for five minutes then leave.

He told me that was the worst part.

And all he did was go up for a ball, and when he came down, his knee collapsed.

Luckily, he's back in the gym.

And luckily, he has the right connections and his chances of suiting up for a D-1 school are high.

Other athletes aren't so lucky.

The saddest part of all of this is that non-contact injuries are preventable for the most part.

It just takes a few minutes a day to stretch, mobilize, and perform the corrective exercises needed to address structural deficiencies, imbalances, and muscle weakness.

Stretching the hips,

Building up the muscles of the posterior,

Raising force absorption capacity through eccentric tempos,

And correctives that target the muscles of the glutes and knee can ALL play a huge role in minimizing risk of injury.

Of course you need sound programming too.

But this will be a big help...

(While you're there, check out my other videos on stretching, mobility, and activation to craft a corrective routine for yourself)

Most athletes are distracted with social media, video games, and more.

They overlook the small stuff.

Or they're too lazy to do it.

But that's where the money's at.

The small details will keep you on the field, enhance your athleticism, and elevate your performance.

I can guarantee...

The athletes who haven't trained since this pandemic started are the same ones who will be riddled with injuries when they return to their sport...

The guys who have adapted...

And done all the accessory work (correctives, stretching, mobility)...

They're the ones who will excel.

Holler,

Chris Barnard

P.S.

it's not too late to adapt and switch to bodyweight training...
