5 Tips for Athletic Greatness in the New Year

The New Year is approaching,

Which means we've got another opportunity to reinvent ourselves,

Work hard,

And take big steps towards our athletic goals.

Over the past few days, I've had some time to reflect, I've done some reading, and watched a couple of shows that have my mind running around total performance.

And I want to share a few tips, 5 tips, that will guide you towards unprecedented heights of athletic performance in the New Year.

Let's get into them:

1. Follow a program
Improv comedy and freestyle rapping are two of the most difficult skills to master. Freestyling cohesive workouts that will lead to improved performance is even harder. Nearly impossible.

This said, either create your own program, or follow someone else's

If you make it up as you go along, you can almost be certain that you're over/undertraining, not improving at the rate you should, and leaving athletic gains on the table.

2. Keep Things Simple
Just recently, I watched a Kevin Hart documentary that revealed some of his comedy process.

One of the cool things he does is, before he fills up a big stadium for his massive shows, he'll go to a small club, unannounced, and test his jokes to see if they land.

This is the equivalent of training in the gym to perform better in a game situation.

The idea is you break down the complexity of a game into bit-sized components so you can elevate your performance in those components. Best way to do this is with bare-bones, simple, dry movements.

3. Build a stretching/mobility routine
Do you have an extra 10 minutes a day?

Because you can get more power, lower your chance of injury, and experience significantly heightened performance in 10 minutes or less a day with stretching and mobility.

So, take some time to pinpoint your imbalances and build an arsenal of stretches to target those areas.

Your body will thank you with improved performance.

4. Hone in on your nutrition
Just the other day, I talked to one of my athletes who improved his live exit velo 6 mph in a couple of weeks through almost solely nutrition.

Nutrition is that powerful.

It will fuel your workouts, it will facilitate strength and muscle gain, it will help your performance.

If you're serious about athletics, it's an absolute necessity.

5. Pinpoint your weaknesses and eliminate them
I always talk about adding a tool.

Whether it's adding a left hand in basketball, getting lighter on your feet, or developing a lightning-quick first step, you should always look to add something to your game.

In the same fashion, you should look to bring your weaknesses up to standard.

High level guys are always doing this...

LeBron working on his shooting, Kobe working on his post up game, NFL DBs improving their game IQ...

This is what it takes to be successful in the athletic game.

Just these five tips alone, if you stick to them like law, will elevate your performance to unprecedented heights. The top of the top NFL players, NBA players, MLB players, and the top performers in other sports execute on these tips without even thinking about it.

If you can do this too, no matter your level, who knows how high you can go.

Now, if you need a program to guide you in the New Year...

A program that has progressions to improve your athleticism,

Contains mobility and stretching for you to follow each day,

And keeps things simple enough to carry over to game situations,

You can take your pick below...

I put all my programs on sale for the next few days.
